On the south lawn of the Historic Doniphan Courthouse in Troy, one can gaze on one man's homage to the American Indian.
Standing 27 feet tall and carved from a burr oak log 67 inches in diameter, Tall Oak, number 29 in a series of over 60 such works, was completed in November 1978. The artist, Peter Toth, held a life-long ambition to carve a spectacular Native American Monument in every state in the U.S. He accomplished that task and more.
