As the dates for the Troy Sesquicentennial and Doniphan County Courthouse Centennial approach, the Celebration Committee continues to meet and finalize plans for the event. The deadline for sponsoring a pole banner has passed but approximately 60 entities; businesses, farmers, families and former businesses have signed up for one. They should begin appearing on the light poles around town in six weeks or so.

Those who want to register their quilts for the quilt show will be able to do so after May 1st.  All categories of quilts will be accepted for exhibit. Watch for more information on the quilt show and the homes tour to begin appearing soon.

Some interest has been expressed in an Antique Farm Implement Show. Anyone with such equipment and interested in showing it during the celebration is invited to contact Pete Duncan at 1198 Last Chance Road, Troy, KS 66087, or call him: 785-985-2544.

Mary Johnson is interested in locating some old wooden thread spools. She wants them to use in one of the children’s activities booths she is planning. If you have any old spools you are willing to donate, please call her at 785-985-2886 or drop by The Home Place during business hours.

The Committee would like to thank Gary Link for the photos he took from the Court House cupola. Copies of them will be donated to the local library. They would also like to thank Larry Barnthson for his generous donation of printing promotional rack cards that will be placed in Tourist Information Centers around the area. Thank you, also, to those who have so generously shared their vintage pictures; Pat and Bill Triplett, Hillman Hull, Joan Oyerly, Pam Pickerell and others. Promoters are still looking for vintage photos of Main Street.

Look forward to a good time June 30 – July 4, 2006.
